(2020) Daily Inspirato Recommendations For Charleston, South Carolina (Where To Eat, Drink, & Thrift)
What To Do In Charleston, South Carolina
Eat… if you do nothing else, engorge yourself.
Boat Tour: I did the one through Charleston Harbor Tours.
Middleton Plantation: This was the highest recommended plantation by Charlestonians. I took the Beyond the Fields: Enslavement at Middleton Place and thought it was very informative.
Ghost Tour: I did the haunted tour through Bulldog Tours.
Walk on the beach: The Sullivan's Island Nature Trail was my favorite.
Walk around town: White Point Garden was great, and so is Joe Riley Waterfront Park.
Go to an Estate Sale: You never know what centuries-old antique you’ll find…
Watch a Sunrise or Sunset: I have never seen more beautiful sunsets in my life.
Where To Eat And Drink In Charleston, South Carolina
[MEAL] SNOB - Slightly North of Board Street
If the only restaurant you dine at is SNOB, then you are doing the exact right thing. The prosecco is chilled and bubbly, and the food is filled with flavor and comes out piping hot.
[MEAL] Leon’s
Leon’s feels like it was the mastermind of the fictional character Jon Favreau plays in the movie Chef. The music is superb (think Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass). Everything is covered in patina and the music is just loud enough where you can’t hear the person next to you talking. The lighting is low and the chicken is fire hot.
[MEAL] Jackrabbit Filly
[MEAL] Huriyali Market
Great breakfast and fun outdoor space. This is where I met and interviewed Samantha for the Seeking Inspirato series.
[MEAL] The Obstinate Daughter
[COFFEE AND A PASTRY] Evo Bakery
[DRINKS] Burns Alley
[DRINKS] Citrus Club
Get a drink here, please. It’s a beautiful view of the city and the mid-century modern interior of the Dewberry Hotel is to die for.
[DRINKS] Pearls for Happy Hour
[DRINKS] The rooftop bar at The Vendue

Liquor Pops
Like New Orleans, can you drink in public in Charleston? Well, the South does have a way of bending the laws. If you have food with alcohol, then it’s fine. So the liquor pops are totally ok :)
